Having Heaven

A contemporary story of self-discovery that, through demystifying the teachings of  history’s greatest avatars, not only shows their teachings to have been more similar than different, but guides its reader toward, and permanently delivers its student to, that same level of awareness and being.

Would you rather be happy or sad?

Would you rather feel secure or insecure?

Would you rather feel elated or disappointed?

Would you rather feel blissful or shameful?

If for each of these choices you selected the more pleasant emotional state, then you are thinking rationally.

But now think about this: Throughout the course of your life, in those instances in which you felt an unpleasant emotional state, did you consciously choose to experience such a state, or did you just suddenly find yourself within its grip?

Imagine having to schedule the experience of such states…

“I would meet with you at that time in the morning but I will then be experiencing insecurity with regard to something my spouse has done.”

“I would be able to schedule a meeting with you at 3:30, but I will be feeling a mixture of sadness and disappointment at about that time.”

It just doesn’t happen this way. Thus, it was not the conscious mind that delivered you into a place you didn’t want to be. It was the unconscious mind. Just as you don’t have to think too much about all the movements that make it possible to drive a car, or all the movements necessary to shake someone’s hand, it is the unconscious mind that is responsible for delivering you into the grip of undesirable emotional states.

Just as a computer can run all kinds of software, in the instance that its owner become dissatisfied with any one of its programs, its owner need do nothing more than “uninstall’ whatever it is that he or she is dissatisfied with. Surely its owner has the right to have his or her computer run in only the desired manner. So why would it be any different for a human being?

Rather than allow yourself to be delivered into undesirable mental states, at which point you have to “deal” with it—i.e. have a few drinks, try to find a shoulder to cry on, or try to find some way of pulling yourself out of it—why not uninstall any and all unconscious programs that do not directly and continuously serve your best interest?

To be “enlightened” isn’t about knowing some secret motto or slogan. Nor is it about acting like a “good person,” attending church, memorizing every verse in the Bible, or meditating while in a loincloth and while sitting beside a cow. To be enlightened is to be free of internal conflict. Simply put, an enlightened being is someone who has successfully underwent, and completed, the process of clearing out (read: uninstalling) anything they found to have been automatically (read: unconsciously) delivering them into undesirable places. Thus, an enlightened being never suffers needlessly and, unlike most people, enjoys a much larger serving of emotions like peace, joy, and bliss.

One who not only reads Having Heaven, but who directly applies its teaching, will not just successfully uninstall any and all unwanted unconscious programs, but will achieve for themselves a new level of being. Since the number of items one can select from The Wish List (to view The Wish List, clink on link below) represents the degree to which he or she is in conflict with his or herself, the student of Having Heaven can use The Wish List as a “road map” of sorts. Since each item selected represents one particular instance of internal conflict, it is precisely when one becomes, through diligent work, unable to select one single item from such list that he or she has attained complete freedom from conflict (i.e. enlightenment).
